DJ MsWilliams Set to Drop Long-Awaited Hit “Balibele”
South Africa’s female powerhouse on the decks, MsWilliams DJ, affectionately known as The African Queen on the Decks, has officially announced the release date of her highly anticipated single “Balibele”, featuring Lu Bongi and vocalist KK. The track is set to drop on 31 October 2025 — and it’s already making waves across dance floors before its debut.
“Balibele”, a Xhosa term meaning “They’ve forgotten”, is a soulful yet energetic anthem of gratitude and remembrance. Through heartfelt lyrics and an infectious beat, the song reminds listeners to never forget their roots — to honour those who carried them, and to live with humility and Ubuntu. It’s a spiritual and cultural celebration of resilience, guided by God and the ancestors.
Fans will get an exclusive sneak preview of “Balibele” this Sunday, 12 October 2025, when MsWilliams DJ takes over Alaska’s Lounge at Von Brandis Street in Marshalltown, and later sets Maboneng alight with an outdoor teaser session. The crowd can expect her signature playlist, fiery energy, and an unforgettable experience behind the decks.
Born in East London and raised in Port Elizabeth, MsWilliams began her journey at Oh Mi Bar in Hemingways Mall, once owned by former Metro FM marketing manager Olwethu Hoyana. She quickly became a crowd favourite, playing at iconic Eastern Cape venues such as Rhythm Bar, Nahoon Beach, Kwa One, Kwa Jeff, eKhoneni, and Vegas. Her move to Port Elizabeth solidified her name at hotspots like Cubana, Coffi, and Kwano’s Meat Corner in Uitenhage.
Now based in Johannesburg since 2015, MsWilliams holds a weekly residency every Wednesday at Felice in Midrand and frequently headlines major venues including Moloko (Pretoria), La Parada (Sandton City), Tiger’s Milk (Kyalami), 86 Republic (Randburg), Propaganda (PTA), and Perere (Midrand), among others.
One of her standout career moments was becoming a resident DJ on Mhlobo Wenene FM’s Ziyawa Show (2024–2025) alongside DJ Slyso, which catapulted her popularity across radio audiences nationwide.
Unlike many of today’s viral DJs, MsWilliams DJ is no social media creation — she’s a seasoned performer with over a decade of experience, having shared stages with icons such as Davido, AKA, DJ Tira, Fistaz Mixwell, Lulo Café, Major League, Kabza De Small, DJ Maphorisa, Khanyi Mbau, Ms Cosmo, and DJ Speedsta. Her sound has reached audiences far beyond South Africa, performing across Mozambique, Botswana, Zambia, Congo DRC, and Zimbabwe.
Fans around the world can also catch her on Global Exposure Drums Radio, where she recently made her international debut as a DJ, now broadcasting in the UK, New York, and Tokyo.
