Creating a Stimulation Centre for Undiagnosed and School-Waiting Autistic Children
iKweKwezi Autism Initiative (iKKAI) is emerging as a powerful community-driven platform dedicated to increasing autism awareness, accessibility and family support in underserved communities across South Africa.
Founded by autism advocate Ntandose Nkabinde, iKweKwezi operates at the intersection of advocacy, education and practical support — ensuring that families navigating autism are not isolated, misinformed or unsupported.

The organisation is committed to normalising autism conversations, dismantling stigma, and building informed, compassionate communities where autistic children and their families are understood and empowered.
Driving Community-Centred Impact
iKweKwezi Autism Initiative’s work focuses on:
- Community awareness campaigns
- Monthly educational workshops
- Parent empowerment and support programmes.
- School and stakeholder engagement
- Inclusive community events, including Autism Walk initiatives
Through these initiatives, iKweKwezi creates safe spaces for dialogue, learning and collaboration while strengthening community understanding of autism.
A Vision Rooted in Lived Experience
The initiative was founded by Ntandose Nkabinde from lived experience and a deep personal commitment to ensuring that no parent feels alone on the autism journey.
Named after her son, iKweKwezi reflects both the personal origins of the organisation and its broader mission to advocate for children who deserve understanding, dignity and opportunity.
“iKweKwezi was born from both love and necessity,” says Nkabinde.
“Autism awareness cannot exist only in policy documents or awareness months — it must live in our communities, schools and everyday conversations. We are building a platform that empowers families while educating society.”
With a professional background in media, brand positioning and community engagement, Nkabinde combines strategic insight with authentic advocacy.

Ntandose’s approach integrates storytelling, education and partnership-building to drive sustainable awareness and measurable impact. Building a Recognised Advocacy Platform.
As a founder-led initiative, iKweKwezi is positioning itself as a credible advocacy voice by actively engaging media, corporate partners and community stakeholders to elevate autism conversations nationwide.
The long-term vision is to establish iKweKwezi as both:
A trusted support network for families. A recognised voice in national autism advocacy
By bridging gaps between families, schools, communities and decision-makers, iKweKwezi Autism Initiative is working to ensure that inclusion becomes a lived reality — not just an aspiration.
